Elections and religion
Mitt Romney
Four years ago, candidates for president of the United States with chances towin for the first time was a black and a woman. Today is a Mormon who belongs to a religion founded in 1830 called The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and aims to break another barrier. Many have criticized President Obama for the six years he moved to Indonesia when he was four years old with his mother, who married a Muslim. Although President attends the evangelical church with his family.
Historically, religion is important in U.S. policy. For example, not all the powerful evangelical Christians will vote for Obama, for his recent support for gay marriage and abortion rights. Many fundamentalist Christians believe Romney's religion is a non-Christian cult. In addition, they criticize Romney for his changes in social affairs, who now says he opposes abortion, raising doubts among Republicans about his conservative beliefs. So we wonder if these conservative Christians will vote for Romney.
Romney is a Mormon, a sect that practiced polygamy and racism to the point that no blacks were allowed to accede to the priesthood. They believe we can inherit heaven and when we get to heaven, we can become a God as Jesus Christ. But what worries me is that to be a Mormon, you have to follow the prophets, norms and regulations of the Mormons. According to them, God chose prophets to teach the gospel and lead his church. They believe that Thomas S. Monson is the prophet chosen by God, he is alive, 84 years old and God sent him to serve as a guide in this world of such confusion, and he will receive revelations of Jesus Christ. And last but not least, Romney boasts of having prophet Monson as his main guide. Romney donated $4 million to the Mormon sect from 2010 to 2011. I pray that if we were to have a Mormon president, to be guided by political consultants and experts and not by the prophet Monson.
